The Music Village Scholarship Fund is intended to support aspiring musicians and artists in their growth.
Music Village’s mission to inspire unity in the community through music and the arts can only be obtained by having skillful performers who sacrifice to serve the community with their talents. We believe that when the community aligns with the artists, the artists will give back to support the community through their talents, time, and resources.
The Music Village Scholarship Fund will seek to support artists by:
- Providing financial support for the instruments and arts materials.
- Providing support for private instruction, study programs, or summer music/arts camps.
- Providing tuition support for collegiate musical studies.
Requirements:
- You must be a resident of New Jersey (1 to 2 awards will be reserved for West Orange applicants).
- Currently a student in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.
- All students who apply must have a cumulative B average or higher in a music, performing arts, or visual arts program.
- All students who apply must submit a one-paragraph essay describing how you use your music/art for community service or to help others.
- A letter of recommendation from your primary music, performing arts, or visual arts teacher addressing your dedication and performing skills.
- A link to a performance (from not more than one year ago) or visual images.
- At least one paragraph explaining how this scholarship can help you.
Award Descriptions:
Higher Education Award: For students majoring in music, performing arts, or visual arts programs. The award can also be used for tuition, purchase of books, and materials.
Eligibility:
- Students who will be graduating high school in the current academic school year, or
- Students may also be recent high school graduates taking a gap year before attending college.
Private Instruction Award: For grades 9-12 who have demonstrated proficiency in an instrument or art and wish to take private lessons, or participate in summer or after-school arts programs.
Eligibility:
- Students who have completed grades 9,10, 11, or 12 in the current academic school year
- Must show a letter verifying current enrollment or acceptance to an accredited music or performing arts school for private instruction, or an accredited summer music/arts camp.
Instrument / Equipment Award: Students grades 9 – 12 who have demonstrated proficiency in an instrument or art and need to purchase an instrument or art materials.
Eligibility:
- Students who have completed grades 9,10, 11, or 12 in the current academic school year.
Timeline:
- February 15th – The application submission period begins.
- March 31st – The application submission period ends.
- April 15th – Award recipients are notified by email.
- May 14th or 15th – Award recipients will perform at the Love+Unity Week Scholarship Night event.
- May 18th – Recipients will receive their scholarship at the Love+Unity Fest.
